Under the guidance of Tonic’s chairman, Tony Iles, each of our directors has achieved more than 20 years’ service in the industry. This longevity, each director’s individual expertise, combined skill-sets, industry knowledge and business acumen have ensured that the ethos of the company, and its objectives, are communicated throughout.
We are proud to offer to our clients a comprehensive service – including ‘in-house’ project management, engineering, surveying, estimating and plant hire divisions, as well as property development – which ensures that we deliver the most efficient, reliable and economic solution, regardless of the size of the project or its location. All projects are run from our head office near Swindon, Wiltshire, where we also have our workshops and Training Academy.
As well as the human touch, we use the latest computer-aided systems for engineering surveying and estimating.
We directly employ all operatives and plant operators, and own in excess of 75% of all plant used to carry out our contracts.
Our commitment to training, health & safety and the environment is paramount to our future success, and training is proudly offered to all employees, to give each individual the opportunity to achieve optimum competence at all levels.

Team Tonic
Chairman & managing director
Tony Iles is an experienced leader, having forged a long career in the construction sector. He has many years’ experience heading up a number of teams.
He became managing director at Tonic in 1999, and since then has significantly strengthened the governance framework for the organisation. Tony has a strong customer service ethos and is focused on improving both customer and employee satisfaction wherever possible.
Tony is guided by a commitment to high standards and ethics, something that he has instilled across the Tonic organisation. Ever curious, he loves working with new people, and is keen to make a difference and leave a great legacy for the next generation at Tonic.

Commercial team
Our dedicated surveyors and estimators deliver competitive tender, budget costs and day-to-day site cost control to ensure the most valued service to our clients. The commercial team is responsible for the procurement of new suppliers and is the first point of contact for any potential new partners. Meanwhile, our dedicated procurement managers work closely with suppliers to ensure that we maintain a supply chain that can provide the right products, from the right place, at the right quality and at the right time.
Technical team
From initial designs and throughout the construction process, Tonic’s technical team offers design solutions, value engineering and full design support, working with local authorities and utility suppliers to ensure a smooth construction process and adoption of roads and apparatus. Our onsite engineering team use robotic and GPS technologies to guarantee the most accurate and reliable site engineering solution for pre- and post-construction.
Health & safety team
Part of Tonic’s ongoing commitment to health and safety, our dedicated team is involved in all our on-site and off-site operations. We have invested substantially in reviewing process and works by continually improving working practices, trialling new equipment and developing existing equipment.
Construction management team
Bringing together vast experience of all aspects of the industry is the key to delivering our customers’ projects not only on time, but also to the highest quality standards possible. Working closely with clients during construction our team is able to progress works to satisfy demanding programmes, coordinate utility installation, liaise with local authorises and ensure best value paths followed.
Small works team
To support our clients continually growth and ever increasing customer demands we have put together a small works team dedicated to completing special projects enabling our clients to go the extra mile for theirs.

Our history
Founded some 20 years ago by chairman and sole owner Tony Iles and incorporated as a limited company in 1999, Tonic Construction Ltd had a motivation to improve quality, safety and customer service across the sector and realised that there was a gap in the market for this to happen. With its ‘whatever it takes’ ethos, Tonic has seen year-on-year growth to become one of the leading groundwork and civil engineering companies in the south of England.
We forge close working relationships with our clients and have gained an outstanding reputation while maintaining our fundamental values.
